This particular bass was on display at the 2022 Spring Fender Custom Shop Event. Featuring the "super heavy relic" treatment, this guitar represents "natural" wear and tear of a played guitar might have faced over the years. With Handwound Fat 60s Strat pickups, Vintage Hardware, and a Alder body, this guitar is Fender quality at its best. These are very nice cases and should last a life time.Modeled after the infamous 1959 Strat, the Fender Custom Shop 1959 Strat Super Heavy Relic sustains the original specifications and quality looks. The case is the original Fender G&G Tolex case in perfect shape with original case key. I have a Fender vintage style leather strap that’s new and a custom shop sticker. I’m also including some of the case candy, as pictured. #Custom fender bass shop serial number#I am including all of the paperwork including original sales tags, warranty cards and the Certificate of Authenticity- matching the serial number and signed by Mike Eldridge whom I’ve met, really cool guy that’s passionate about making some nice instruments and this bass represents that. The bass has a nice weight just under 8.5 pounds and thanks to light weight Schaller Tuners balances well. The action is low and it plays without buzzing. It’s a very clean bass that’s all their is to note. Beyond that just very superficial scratches that could be buffed out, minor stuff from being handled. On the front it has 2 small dings as well by the forearm contour. It has a few 2-3 small dings around the edges I’ve photographed. It is 12 years old and has some very minor cosmetic wear. It is currently strung with D’addrio Half Wounds. This is one that you can top load or string through, currently I have it strung through. This also has a nice Fender high mass bridge. The Custom Noiseless Jazz Bass Pickups that come stock in these models are really good sounding pickups I had these in another Jazz Bass and thought they sound great and don’t have that terrible hum some J pickups have. You can get an array of tones out of it, their are some good YouTube demos on this model. This bass as I said has a lot of versatility thanks to the 3 band Active EQ. This model features a 2 piece nicely matched Ash Body and a clear nitro gloss finish. Most Fender bodies are made of 4-5 sometimes 3 pieces of wood. It has a very nicely grained rosewood fingerboard that is adorned with real white shell block inlays but being unbound it’s very comfortable. #Custom fender bass shop plus#This plus the graphite truss rod makes for an extremely stable neck. The rear maple neck is quarter sawn, you can see how the wood grain references that in the photos. Very comfortable shape and feels great with a satin semi gloss texture. The neck is described by Fender as a 60's Jazz Bass "U" shape neck. The Custom Shop really makes some nice necks, I’ve been able to own 5 CS Fenders and the necks always impress me. These also feature a 21st fret compared to the standard 20. It makes for better upper fret access as well as the contoured neck heel. The custom active jazz basses have a slightly slimmer waist contour, plus deeper body cutaways. Fender made these to be very well crafted players bass with plenty of versatility. It’s been very well cared for and is completely original. It was made in 2010 and is called a Fender Custom Active Jazz Bass, produced by Fenders Custom Shop. This Jazz Bass is stunning and a joy to play.
